Our History

Humble Beginnings

The Leicester Church of Christ was planted in 2014 under the leadership of our minister Paul Hill, who was a member of the Loughborough Church of Christ.

The first service was held on Sunday 9th November 2014 with approximately 9 Christians and 5 children in attendance, who began to meet in the city of Leicester at the Newfoundpool Community Centre.

It was clear from the beginning that the prayerful desire of each member was to be guided by scripture, maintaining the fundamentals of the Lord’s teachings and to share the clear unchanged message of salvation with those around us.

What began as an answer to members who were traveling from the city of Leicester to the Loughborough congregation has grown steadily over the years by the grace of God until we were no longer able to fit the Centre.

In 2023 we were blessed through the grace of God to be able to purchase our very first building in Leicester, the former New Life Centre in Sanvey Lane, Aylestone, LE2 8NG.

In the same year we were also blessed by the grace of God to open up our first Bible School, the Leicester Bible Institute, through the partnership of the Sunset International Bible Institute, and to enrol our first 20 students.

The congregation continues to grow both numerically and spiritually. The members originate from various cultural backgrounds, ages, professions, and abilities.  The blessing is to see the unity that truth brings, as we are united as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Anyone visiting the congregation can be assured of a warm welcome from a loving and caring congregation, we pray you will also come and visit us soon
